My guest is Fred Lambright, who is the Organizational Director of the San Francisco Community Land Trust (SFCLT). On the show, we will discuss how the SFCLT works to preserve San Francisco's diminishing affordable housing stock by acquiring and converting rental buildings into permanently affordable, shared-equity housing cooperatives. Through the actions of the Community Land Trust, the current residents become owners of the building and SFCLT owns the land. This results in an alternative form of homeownership, and in this way homeownership affordability is preserved. How? By separating the cost of the building from the land, the SFCLT maintains the affordability requirements in perpetuity, or in layman’s terms, forever and ever. This show promises to be fascinating, educational and inspirational, so tune in!
