Dr. Cathy Reimers, PhD (who is referred to as Dr. Cathy or Doc), is a psychologist in private practice in New Jersey. Along with her co-host, she discusses how to deal with family problems and mental health issues. Addiction, violence and technology impact our mental health, contributing to what’s become known as the “perfect family storm.” Her current series, Dance with Bipolar, is dedicated to helping you embrace bipolar in positive ways. By using the analogy of dance with its various rhythms, Doc demonstrates the importance of chemical, sleep and mood rhythms in Bipolar Disorder. The goal is to utilize problem solving skills, mindfulness and truth to develop new rhythms of behavior. In addition, Doc covers other stressors in family life, such as: divorce, child custody battles and financial problems. So many forces impact our mental health, and living with constant stress can lead to depression and anxiety within the family. In fact, many people are living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or other mental health problems, and they are completely unaware of it. Doc’s goal is to break the stigma that’s attached to mental health issues. She aims to inspire listeners to give up shame so they can learn to accept and embrace their mental health conditions, as well as educate others. She invites you to join her and learn how these issues impact the mental health of your family. You’ll learn how to grow your relationships with those you love most, and you may even experience “perfect peace” from a “perfect family storm.”
