In order for us to succeed, the various religious institutions must throw off their passive shackles. Church leaders and their members must become more actively involved in reaching out to those in needs; in healing hearts and broken dreams before we can transform the communities in which we live.
We can choose to accept the same old lame excuses, blame and zero sum gaming approaches whereby we end up with the short end of the deal.
Frederick Douglas said “Power concedes nothing without a demand, it never has and it never will”. Until we are willing to acknowledge the truth and demand more from ourselves, nothing will change. Unless we are willing to deal with the sources which produce the apathy, fear, hopelessness, selfishness and despair gripping so many individuals and families, no good can come from maintaining the status quo.
