I believe we as voters, believers and African Americans have to not only get serious about this election and what it could mean for a legacy to our children, but to the political landscape. Who we elect to the White House can be critical to the country's future, but as African Americans I believe we have to look at how our collective future as a culture plays against the broad landscape of American Culture and history. The weight of the issues, ability and experience are not to be discounted but if not a Black President now, when? If not Barack who? We have had chances Shirley Chisolm, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Carol Mosley Braun and even Alan Keyes who no one seems to realize even joined the current fray of Republicans (for the 3rd time). Barack Obama (African American, Black or Negro (whatever you call yourself or him)) has captivated the WHOLE country like none of the other beloved African American candidates ever have and it feels like African Americans would rather let him slip away from the grasp of this thing and to boot under a shroud of Bill Clinton's belligerent comments and misinterpretations. I respect and voted for Bill when he ran, but I can no longer respect how they have chosen to handle this campaign and the dark light that they are casting over themselves. VOTE OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT !!!!!
