    Interviewing Narcissist Sam Vaknin

Wow, it was a challenge getting this show launched today.  I had difficulty connecting with Sam in Macedonia and the show went live before I could get him on the show, so this explains my rough intro.  But things smoothed out once we settled in and started talking.  It amazes me this technology that allows me to interview someone in another Country so technical difficulties aside it went well.

Sam Vaknin brings an interesting perspective on narcissism, the inside one.  He believes one should not use the term narcissistic personality disorder unless the person being labeled has been formally diagnosed.  Instead he feels we should refer to those with narcissistic characteristics as abusers.  However being this is a very subtle and confusing type of abuse, I feel it benefits victims to consider the possibility of narcissism, whether the abuser is experiencing some traits or all of them.  It helps victims to understand the complexity and craziness of the abuse.  I suppose there is a difference between saying that ones abuser has narcissistic personality disorder and saying he is narcissistic.  One implies a diagnosis where the other implies a set of characteristics that fit within the definition of a narcissistic personality.
