Wednesday September 15, 2010 Welcomes Warren Halvarson of DSG Show #111

Warren Halvarson is one of the most respected and talented Vocalists in the Chicago metal scene today. His range, power, clarity and dynamic stage presence are well known and most recently & notably through his work with Heaven & Hell Chicago (A Ronnie James Dio/Black Sabbath/Rainbow tribute band).
Warren began his singing career in the mid 1980's while fronting a metal band called Crystal Axe which also featured guitarist Michael Posch (Radakka/The Pamela Moore Band). After that project concluded, Warren briefly fronted a fusion metal band called NVS which featured Mike Garrett of Zoetrope & Supermercado association. During the early 1990's, Warren continued to hone his vocal skills by fronting the Broad St. Bullies which received numerous accolades as one of the best local acts of the day. The Broad St. Bullies band however came to a tragic & untimely end with the abrupt accidental death of lead guitarist, Sonny Melone.
During this time period, Warren was also challenged with some health related issues to his voice. To offset the impact of repeated throat infections caused by acute allergies & stress, Warren took vocal lessons & studied vocal healing techniques in Chicago.
It was during one of these Heaven & Hell Chicago performances (in Chicago) that Warren & David Shankle met & had some casual music related conversations. It wasn't until about a year and a half later, Warren & David again found themselves having more serious music collaboration related conversations. Eventually, after some personnel changes to DSG, Warren & David met and did some trial songwriting & recording. The result was quite impressive and now Warren & David are currently writing & collaborating the 3rd DSG studio album.
