Declaration of Independence for the American Worker (2009)

The Preamble to the Declaration of Independence is familiar to many U.S. citizens and yet there are far too many folk not achieving the spirit of this great document.

"Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" is definitely a worthy goal:

But how can we have a good life if our life is consumed with work?

Our days, weeks and often our self-esteem is tied to how much, where and when we work for someone else;

How can we have liberty if we can only come and go as our employer dictates?

We must ask permission to pick up our sick child; we must ask permission to go to lunch; we must ask permission to take a break;

How can we achieve the pursuit of happiness when all of our pursuits result in the happiness of our employer? I am here to enlist recruits for the revolution of the entrepreneur!
