   I 've wanted to contribute to the conversation on "Law of Attraction" for a while now, but I think that it was reading Steve Pavlina's blogpost on the subject that really triggered me into action. Yey! to Steve for that, although that's where my excitement ends about that particular post.
   I can't say that I am a regular reader of Steve's blog, but I do read it occasionally, usually enjoy it, and find it useful. His post on LOA is not new and was found by accident, browsing his blog recently. Apparently, the post comes up on the first page of Google for Law of Attraction, which makes me wonder about how stuff actually does land on the first page of Google.
   In his post Steve tries to tackle some tough questions about LOA, something about an abused baby etc. The usual questions about horrible things that do happen in life and, why do they happen at all, and how could we possibly attract that, in Steve's case: how could an innocent baby attract that?
   Steve tries to answer the question by blaming everything on subjective reality, something along the lines of "it's all happening in your consciousness." Well, with all due respect, Steve, that's a really lame answer!!! In fact that is no answer at all, because it still doesn't explain what the poor baby or you (as the observer) did consciously or unconsciously did to attract that situation. Steve tries to answer the question without bringin in karma in the equation. He provides some sort of reasoning for that, which really read to me like he views karma as a bogus idea. (perhaps I am wrong here, but that's what if felt like)
   How important is the question of karma in figuring out why events happen the way they do perhaps is not as important.  But the question of the soul purpose IS important.
In fact I think that the whole conversation of Law of Attraction is missing a huge piece.
Yes, I believe that it's true that our consciousness attracts situations in our lives based on our thoughts. There is no question in my mind that that's the case. However, without understanding our purpose, and living out our purpose, happiness is not achievable. Just think about all the people that have all the physical comforts they could possibly want, a perfect family and supposedly perfect life, and still be missing something.
   No matter how much you are trying to tune to the wealth and/or perfect mate vibration, or whatever it is that you currently desire, if you are not living your purpose you are going to remain unfulfilled.
   In fact, I believe that poverty, depression, and illness will continue to haunt us until we figure out and start living our purpose. In affect, there is actually "a missing secret." And it's the one, where you actually have to do some work and find out your own answer for.
