"THE violation of the Barotse agreement has caused undue injury to the people of Barotseland", Lyambai Development Centre consultant Kusiyo Mbikusita-Lewanika has said. Lewanika on Saturday said the Barotseland agreement of 1964 was the only basis upon which the Barotseland Protectorate became an integral part of Zambia. Godwin explains why the Lozi people want secede from Zambia. He will discuss "Barotse Self determination" in the context of development, History, Current issues, and Barotseland Agreement 1964. The people of Western province have been rioting and protesting demanding that the NCC Final draft submission from western province that was left out be revisited. Barotseland freedom groups in Mongu are calling for independence from Zambia for the following reasons: * The govt. of Zambia has neglected WP for the past 46 years in terms of development. * There is intentional negligency by successive governments of Zambia. * The statements made by the President and the Vice President did not help the situation. What does the Barotse Agreement of 1964 say? How much land belongs to Barotse land.
