A retired KCMO fire fighter "Fast Eddy's" [Ed Maurin] passion has been BBQ cooking since 1986 when he cooked at his first American Royal cook off. He became interested in cooking with wood pellets in 1990 and went on to market with his own design of a smoker oven using pellets in 1998. He has traveled many places in the world cooking BBQ and is always searching for new and better ways to improve on the Best BBQ in the world, his! He enjoys the interaction with customers and hearing the success stories of their wins at cook offs and the long lines that extend out the doors of the restaurants. Married 28 years, has one son and two grand daughters.
In late 2003, Cookshack and Fast Eddy's BBQ formed an agreement for Cookshack to manufacture and market Ed Maurin's line of championship barbecue smokers. "Fast Eddy" had been winning Grand Championships for about 15 years with his smokers, and he built them for other competitors as well. He was ready to expand, and Cookshack was ready to complete its product lines with a brand of top quality professional competition smokers.
n August of 2010 Fast Eddy (Ed Maurin) made an appearance on the well-know “Today Show” in Rockefeller Center to feature the Fast Eddy’s by Cookshack Pellet Grill. He gave instructions on cooking ribs on the pellet grill and the different options for direct and indirect heat, and the advantages of using pellets for added flavor.
He has also appeared on the United States Barbecue Championships, Food Network; Chris Lilly’s Barbecue All-Star Showdown; Championship Barbecue Series on versus. He has appeared on the DIY Network.
