Gene Yang began publishing comic books under the name Humble Comics in 1996. In 1997, he got the Xeric Grant for Gordon Yamamoto and the King of the Geeks. Since then he's written and drawn a number of stories in comics. American Born Chinese, released by First Second Books in 2006, became the first graphic novel to be nominate for a National Book Award and the first to win the American Library Association's Printz Award. In September of 2013, First Second Books released his two-volume graphic novel project Boxers & Saints!

K.I.D. founder Jessica Papa: KiD will be a program that will focus on Children of Deportees. Not everyone is aware of what an epidemic this situation has become. KiD helps these children with social, financial, employment, education, legal & mental health concerns. In addition, to have a place young children & adolescents can talk to other kids that are in the same situation & most importantly keep in touch with their parents.
