The mission of DSMA (Diabetes Social Media Advocacy) is to promote social networking in all its forms (Facebook, twitter, YouTube, etc) in order to educate and support all people affected by diabetes. The diabetes online community the opportunity to share and understand the challenges of physical, mental and emotional needs of this chronic condition. In an effort to share the mission of DSMA with the community, we decided to offer DSMA Live, DSMA en Vivo and DSMA Live: Parents Talk empower,connect, support people affected by diabetes. Monday (bi-weekly) at 9 PM EST: DSMA Live: Parents Talk Tuesday (bi-weekly) at 9 PM EST: DSMA en Vivo Thursday at 9 PM EST: DSMA Live DSMA Live: Parents ('Rents) Talk, DSMA en Vivo and DSMA Live is provided by Diabetes Community Advocacy Foundation (DCAF).

Listen in and hear Fred and Joanne share their family's experience with the Bionic Pancreas this summer at the Clara Barton Center. Fred and Joanne Cunha have been married for 14 years and have three children; 7-year-old Elise (diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 12 months), 4-year-old Mattias and almost-2-year-old Lucas. They currently live in Dallas after living in San Francisco and Vancouver. Fred was born and raised in Lisbon and Joanne was born in Montreal but grew up in Vancouver. Fred started Team Elise (www.teamelise.com) two weeks after Elise's diagnosis and over the last 5 years they have had over 800 people walking for Team Elise in the United States, Canada, Portugal and Mozambique and have raised over $70,000 for JDRF. Joanne started Death of a Pancreas (www.deathofapancreas.com) two months after Elise's diagnosis where she blogs about type 1 diabetes. She also created the animated ?What NOT to say to the parent of a type 1 diabetic? video.
