Molly McElwee Malloy has recently joined the team at the University of Virginia’s Diabetes Education Management Program (DEMP). At DEMP she see’s patients as a Certified Diabetes Educator (434-924-1825). Previous to joining DEMP at UVA, Molly served as a CRC at the Center for Diabetes Technology and diabetes educator at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine where she worked on the artificial pancreas. As a former participant in artificial pancreas trials, prior to beginning her research career. She brought the unique perspective of a patient as well as a clinician to the table. She was responsible for organizing and conducting focus groups to develop and design the user interface for the current model of the artificial pancreas. She is the faculty advisor for the College Diabetes Network chapter at UVA. In addition, she volunteers as a diabetes educator at the Charlottesville Free Clinic.  Molly has had type 1 diabetes for 16 years.
