The empowering lyrics call us all to live in our highest potential and light. The song also includes a good bit of Sikh history that has a way of inspiring folks on all spiritual paths. In this session Livtar Singh, the writer and composer of “Song of the Khalsa”, and I will talk about his process of creating this song, how it became part of the fiber of 3HO life, and how this and other great songs generate inspiration and hope in surprising ways and with unexpected people.   Livtar Singh has been a student of Yogi Bhajan and life in general since 1969. In the summer of 1970, Yogiji sent him to Atlanta, GA to found Guru Ram Das Ashram. BIO: Gurutej Singh Khalsa is a yogi, warrior, entrepreneur, poet, healer, and teacher. He was a personal aide and bodyguard to Yogi Bhajan and traveled the world with him in that capacity. Gurutej is also the Founder of Akal Security, Inc., which was the largest privately held security services contractor in the United States as well as the largest single provider of protective services to the Federal government of the United States. Having learned directly from Yogi Bhajan, Gurutej is an international teacher of Kundalini Yoga and meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan, as well as the warrior fitness training that he learned from Yogiji. Gurutej is the author of two books: Children of the Cusp, a collection of poetry about his experiences as a student of Yogi Bhajan; and Rajni, an historical spiritual novel about the powers of love, sacrifice, and transformation. Rajni was awarded the Gold Seal of Literary Excellence. Gurutej has been listed on the Sikh 100; number 24 among the one-hundred most influential Sikhs in the world. He lives in Singapore with his wife and son. 00:31:00Empowered Sound with DevSuroopnoKundalini Yoga, chanting,MantrasLearn about the mantra Alakh Baba Siri Chand de RakhEk Ong Kaar Kaur discusses the connection between Sikh Dharma and Kundalini Yogahttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/10/19/ek-ong-kaar-kaur-discusses-the-connection-between-sikh-dharma-and-kundalini-yogaMusichttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/10/19/ek-ong-kaar-kaur-discusses-the-connection-between-sikh-dharma-and-kundalini-yoga/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/10/19/ek-ong-kaar-kaur-discusses-the-connection-between-sikh-dharma-and-kundalini-yogaSun, 19 Oct 2014 15:00:00 GMTEk Ong Kaar Kaur discusses the connection between Sikh Dharma and Kundalini YogaThe connection between Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma  According to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, also known as the Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma, the connection between yoga and the Shabad Guru goes all the way back to the life of Guru Nanak. Guru Nanak liberated knowledge for the common people, and yoga was no exception. Yet at the same time, he introduced a profound technology of sound to help a person awaken. We call this the Shabad Guru. In this session, Ek Ong Kaar Kaur and Dev Suroop discuss the inextricable connection between these two paths.  Ek Ong Kaar brings forward both an historical context and also a vision for the future when we apply the techonology of Shabad Guru. 00:30:00Empowered Sound with DevSuroopnomantra, chanting, dev suroop, yogi bhajan, kundalini yogaThe connection between Kundalini Yoga and Sikh Dharma  According to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan, also known as the Siri Singh Sahib of Sikh Dharma, the connecSada Sat Simran Singh of Chardikala Jatha discusses the power of Raag Kirtanhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/09/07/sada-sat-simran-singh-of-chardikala-jatha-discusses-the-power-of-raag-kirtanMusichttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/09/07/sada-sat-simran-singh-of-chardikala-jatha-discusses-the-power-of-raag-kirtan/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/09/07/sada-sat-simran-singh-of-chardikala-jatha-discusses-the-power-of-raag-kirtanSun, 07 Sep 2014 15:00:00 GMTSada Sat Simran Singh of Chardikala Jatha discusses the power of Raag KirtanSunday, September 7, 9:00 am MST (Time Zone Converter) Special Guest Sada Sat Simran Singh of the Chardikala Jatha.  We will discuss Raag Kirtan from his experience and perspective as a highly accomplished musician who plays traditional, classical Sikh kirtan internationally...and often.  He and the Chardi Kala Jatha are specifically honored to play at the Golden Temple in Amritsar.   Raag is the classical form of music of India. North Indian Classical Music is based off of a system of scales or modes which have certain rules to their movement, the mood they inspire, the time of day that they are sung, and vocal techniques used. We will talk about the experience and transformative power of listening to and playing Raag Kirtan.  In Kundalini Yoga, we chant mantras in monotone, simple melodies, and sometimes quite complex melodies, but seldom in raag.  From Sada Sat Simran Singh’s perspective and training, what is it about raag that takes the experience deeper?  What is it about raag kirtan that ‘grabs’ him and compels him to devote so much of his life to it?   00:31:00Empowered Sound with DevSuroopnokundalini yoga, mantra, raag kirtan, dev suroop kaurSunday, September 7, 9:00 am MST (Time Zone Converter) Special Guest Sada Sat Simran Singh of the Chardikala Jatha.  We will discuss Raag Kirtan from his expeYogi Amandeep Singh discusses 'beej' mantras and the Yogic philosophy of soundhttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/08/10/yogi-amandeep-singh-discusses-beej-mantras-and-the-yogic-philosophy-of-soundMusichttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/08/10/yogi-amandeep-singh-discusses-beej-mantras-and-the-yogic-philosophy-of-sound/#commentshttp://www.blogtalkradio.com/devsuroopkaur/2014/08/10/yogi-amandeep-singh-discusses-beej-mantras-and-the-yogic-philosophy-of-soundSun, 10 Aug 2014 15:00:00 GMTYogi Amandeep Singh discusses 'beej' mantras and the Yogic philosophy of soundDuring this fascinating show, Yogi Amandeep shares his wealth of yogic wisdom - culled from his practice and experience as well as historic and cultural about yogic thought and the lineage of Kundalini Yoga.  The word that kept coming to me during this show was 'Beautiful', as he shared the roots of the concept of 'beej' or 'seed' mantras.  This discussion went way back into the yogic philosophy of the origin of matter - first there was shunia...then vibration...from there was sound.  And there were 108 beej sounds.  He also talked about the concept of 'Vortexs' that develop at the place a Master leaves his or her body.  We covered a lot of territory in this short 1/2 hour!  Yogi Amandeep travels the world teaching workshops, leading yatras, and providing addiction & recovery programs.
