Hundreds of placards waving youth and women poured on the streets of Bungoma town this morning to express solidarity with the beleaguered deputy Chief Justice Nancy Barasa who faces suspension from the judiciary from a sensational gun drama at the village market.

The demonstrators called on the president to allow Nancy Barasa and security guard Rebecca Kerubo resolves the issue out of court.Led by a women activist's Hellen Wabomba the demonstrators demanded that the matter be left to Nancy Barasa and security guard Rebecca Kerubo to solve at a personal level.

They castigated those throwing blanket condemnation at the deputy CJ stating that just as any other Kenyan she too deserved a hearing. They also demanded that details of the CCTV cameras at village market where Barasa is alleged to have threatened Kerubo with a gun be made public to shed more light on the issue.

The Judicial service commission has already petitioned the President to suspend Barasa and establish a tribunal to investigate her conduct with a view of determining her culpability that could see her dismissed from office. If suspended, the Deputy CJ will draw a half salary until the tribunal concludes its investigations.
