This week marks one year since my family and I arrived in Washington, D.C. to take up the honourable job of representing the Government, and the people of Kenya, in the United States. It has been an incredible year, most of it spent listening, watching, learning, and establishing relationships.Over the past twelve (12) months, I have visited some twenty (20) states. In each state, I have met with private sector leaders, US Government officials, university Administrators, and Kenyans living in America. The relationship between Kenya and the USA is healthy. In Washington, meetings have been held with some 25 Congressmen/women, as well as 11 Senators. The Embassy has an active partnership with key think-tanks in Washington, including Brookings Institution, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, National Democratic Institute (NDI) and International Republican Institute (IRI).There have been some 12 trade delegations to Kenya, with a significant interest generated by the Africa Investment Conference held in New York City in April 2011.
