Upon joining politics in 1989 at the young age of 28, having worked at National Housing Corporation and Tysons Ltd respectively, he was appointed Minister for Supplies and Marketing (1989-1992) and thereafter has held the following senior cabinets positions: Minister for Finance (1993-1997), Minister for Agriculture (1998-1999), Minister for Information, Transport & Communication (1999- 2001), Minister for Transport & Communication (2001-2002), Vice President of Kenya (2002) & his current office. Hon. Musalia Mudavadi joined politics following the death of his father (Moses Mudavadi, former MP Sabatia constituency) after a by-election in which Musalia went unopposed in1989. He has since served as Sabatia Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), has held various ministerial positions throughout his political career and is to date one of the longest serving MPs in Kenya.
