Just past midnight in Egypt on Friday, all internet providers, every business, bank, internet cafe, websites, schools,Embassy and Govt offices that depend on Internet connectivity are now cut off from the rest of the world. Egyptian Govt is setting an example for other countries intending to silence protesting citizens.Hosni Mubarak's Govt is denying the citizens of Egypt the freedom of media a mid chaos that has plugged that country. Other countries facing turmoil have placed curbs on internet activity. In 2009 Iran crippled internet service as a move to quell street protests after disputed elections, the same year Chinese Authorities censored Facebook and Twitter in one of its province. When the Egyptian Govt blocked the two social sites, users were able to use proxy servers to circumvent the censorship. With the current shut down the proxies cannot work since there is no internet.Do you think the Kenyan govt can use internet censorship to silence any kind of protest in the near future?
