Kenyan Broadcaster Making Waves in the Land of Opportunity and thats Denzel Musumba.. He currently manages approximately 6,000 listeners—tuning in through the internet— per show. For a radio station that has only been in operations for four months, that number is not by any means small.A few people might still remember Denzah’s recording studio in Kawangware, Nairobi. The young man closed Trevor Records—named after his son—in Kawangware in November 2009 to relocate to the land of ‘milk and honey’.And now, Denzel Musumba aka Denzah runs three studios in Brooklyn New York, Las Vegas and New Jersey. Denzah, 28, is the founder and owner of East Africa Radio, which broadcasts live from the US. To attract listeners from the Diaspora, his radio programme line-up gives priority to East African content.A talkative and social person, Denzah is your typical radio presenter—a passion he has had since MCing at a 2001 New Year party. After that event, he went on to work in various radio stations. Trained in journalism and broadcast media, Denzah presented a Sports show on Rock FM in Uganda, Macheo Breakfast show with Lyndah Oriaso—who now hosts Q-FM’s morning show—and Simba Mathree with the late Elly Abongo on Radio Simba Nairobi among others. His passion for radio grew even bigger when he witnessed the lifestyle led by fellow Africans living abroad: “They drink, sleep and go clubbing. In these venues, people are easily exposed to bad practic?es, especially drug abuse. The radio station is an alternative form of positive leisure activity, which helps preserve the African culture and language. It provides entertainment while keeping the listeners informed on what is happening back home,” says Denzah. You wanna know more about this guy Denzel then tune inn today as the republicans take over the studio live from Las vegas.
