Omar is a technology culture writer for the Austin American-Statesman, where he’s been a reporter and editor in various departments for nearly 15 years. He was the founding editor for the Spanish-language newspaper ¡ahora sí!and currently has a blog and weekly tech column called Digital Savant.

Omar was a writer and performer for the award-winning sketch comedy troupe the Latino Comedy Project for 10 years and has also written for MSNBC, CNN.com, the Wall Street Journal, Hispanic Magazine and other publications. He helped create NPR’s All Tech Considered segment for “All Things Considered” and was a contributor and blogger for it for three years.
He and his brother Pablo also created the web comic “Space Monkeys!” and for the last four seasons have been producing an animated web series “Trailers Without Pity” for the NBC-owned website Television Without Pity.
Omar also runs a personal website http://terribly-happy.com and is currently working on a long-term writing project about mom bloggers with a writing partner, Tracy O’ Connor. He lives in New Braunfels, Texas, with his wife and two daughters.
