As a Relationship Manager, Sean also regularly assists and consults Corporate Partners from the Finance industry with the execution of their recruitment strategy. In our digital age, job seekers have easier access to job postings, and they have the capacity to respond to postings much more easily than before. And they take advantage of these opportunities, which is creating an information management problem for recruiters. More and more of them are adopting Applicant Tracking Systems to manage the flood of applicants received in response to their postings. They are also choosing centralized posting sites, such as LinkedIn, to maximize the efficient sharing of positions. These represent systemic changes to the campus recruiting process, and they will require a substantial change in how youth, and their career advisors, engage with employers. This is according to the outcome of an annual survey conducted by the Canadian Association of Career Educators and Employers – CACEE. Each year CACEE surveys employers who hire college and university graduates, asking them about their current and future hiring activities and preferences. One of the questions provides employers with a list of 20 characteristics they might find in a candidate, and asks them to rank them according to how they are valued. Canadian employers have named the same Top Five for three years running, and they are also consistent in naming their Bottom Five. I had no intention of becoming an internet businessman but that’s the way things turned out. I think it’s an interesting story. I taught psychology at college for 10 years then quit to become the director of training at a hospital in Victoria – after 6 months I knew I didn’t like the job but was puzzled as to why. After almost 5 years I gave myself the mbti and found I was an ENFP – and the penny fell – it wasn’t the job and it wasn’t me – it was the lack of fit between what the job needed and what I naturally preferred to do. So, I quit and went into the training and consulting business. After 10 years of using the mbti in my workshops I wanted to talk to them about putting it online – they wouldn’t even talk to me so since I had psychometrics training at the PhD level – I started on the journey of creating my own type indicator and in 1997 incorporated the TypeFocus Internet company that provides online personality type assessment tools.   Website: www.typefocus.com or www.typefocus.com/apps 00:32:00Job Talk Radio BCnoAssessments,Career,Professional Development,Career Practitioners,Type FocusTopic: Life of a career counsellor turned internet businessman.
