Nancy Ward is a great Native American woman leader who spent her life serving and leading Indigenous people. She has been referred to as a Joan of Arc. Want to learn more about her? Tune into Off The Shelf Books Talk Radio on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 11am/EST (New York City time). Off The Shelf Books Talk Radio host, author Denise Turney, is going to interview Debra Yates, a 7th great-granddaughter of Nancy Ward's, on April 20. In addition to being a blood relative of the great Nancy Ward, Debra is the author of the book "Woman of Many Names" - a book that gives a close look at Nancy Ward and works she did to help Native Americans at a time when colonists were moving onto American soil, forcing Native Americans off the land that they had lived on for centuries. A yearning to learn more about her family history is part of what sparked Debra's writing passion. In 2018, Tennessee paid homage to Nancy Ward, building and establishing monuments for her. Denise Turney will ask Debra about the Cherokee nation history in North America. Turney and Yates will also look at Native American life, challenges and triumphs, at cultural and policy levels. Questions may be answered LIVE during the feature interview. Tell your family, friends, neighbors and colleagues to tune in. You want to catch this feature show!
