There are over 54 Americans who are disabled –that is the largest minority group in the United States. The word ‘disability’ is defined as: “The condition of being unable to perform as a consequence of physical or mental unfitness.” Disabilities can come in the form of physical or mental; from birth or a newly diagnosed disease. A catastrophic incident; or trauma that is emotional or physical. Life is challenging as a healthy, able person, having a disability compounds daily life activities up to 100% for many. Employment, relationships, families, position in community, spiritual soundness, education; all of life’s parameters are affected by a disability. It is not just a blue sticker and a front parking space – there’s more. Please join Denise Bolds, MSW author of Raising Princes to be Kings: A Single Black Mother’s Guide to Raising Her Black Son and special guest Judith E. Fitzburger as Judith discusses her life as a black single disabled mother of two children. Judith E. Fitzburger today has finished her 1st degree, an Associate degree in IT-Visual Communications with a G.P.A of 3.92. She has resurrected her virtual business, and has embarked on a path of disability advocacy. She is determined that people know they are not alone. She wants to encourage the community of people with disabilities that they can still dream; that they still matter and they can still make a difference in the world. Life has its challenges and Judith will talk about them. GET READY TO BE EMPOWERED!
