Calling All Men!! African and Caribbean American men are twice as likely as American men of European ancestry to develop prostate cancer. Generally, it develops after age 50, with most cases diagnosed in men over age 65. Studies indicate that men with a father or brother with prostate cancer, those who have a high-fat diet, and those who smoke have an increased risk for developing the disease. Prostate cancer develops when the DNA in a prostate gland cell is injured or mutated and the malignant cell begins to proliferate and form tumors; if left untreated, the prostate cancer may eventually metastasize and spread to other organs. Winston Dyer is my honored guest- a prostate cancer survivor with a story of hope, giving back, empowering men, and saving lives in the black community. The founder of Arianna Prostate Cancer Community Outreach, he travels across the state on a Health bus providing free prostate screenings and mammograms at health and wellness events to those who have no insurance, those who simply can’t afford to get one or wouldn’t normally consider getting tested. Tune in for this most outstanding interview. Call: 347-945-5853. Remember the chat-room is open.
