During her successful career, she has been cited for heroism for saving a child’s life, which gained her an appearance on Oprah, a re-enactment of her efforts on Rescue 9-1-1, many citations and awards including the Operation P.U.S.H Humanitarian Service Award. She has served as President of the Illinois State Acupuncture Association, traveled extensively as a national spokesperson for alternative therapy and holistic medicine, was a state lobbyist, and is currently on the board of advisers for the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine. Deirdre is an author, her most recent works are "My Joy is the Journey" and "Taking the Journey Home" journal. Deirdre J.
