Join Debra and her guest, Cheryl Maplethorpe, for a riveting look at a time and place in recent history that, arguably, few Americans fully comprehend, even today. A fresh-faced recent graduate from the University of Iowa (1971), Cheryl taught for three years at the American School of Kuwait. While on Christmas break with colleagues, Cheryl took a daunting detour when her plane was forced to land shortly after Yemen’s southern government adopted Marxism. There in South Yemen she was apprehended by ruffians and held captive for several weeks. You won’t want to miss her nightmarish saga as it unfolded on the home turf of Osama bin Laden’s ancestors. Originally aired on TRUTHTalk with Debra Rae in June of 2011, hers is a story that merits repeating. It's certain to keep you on the edge of your seat!

Cheryl Maplethorpe, Ph.D., has served as a Financial Aid Counselor (U of IA); Director of the Student Financial Aid Division (MN Office of Higher Education). Presently, Cheryl is employed by Globe University with 30 campuses in 5 states.
