Hey there!

I'm new to BlogTalk, but so far, I like what I've heard and seen.  I'm not too keen on talking about myself, but I'll give it a go, as I'd like to make some new friends and you can't if you don't open up a bit right?

I'm a born and raised So. Calif. girl, I love it here, I live near the ocean (Huntington Beach is my home away from home).  I'm a mom to a beautiful extremely intelligent and talented 7 yr.old boy named Christian (the light of my life!).  Marriage and I it seems just weren't meant to be, I tried for a (very long!) 8 yrs. and well that's that, ce' la vie'.  I don't hold grudges, that's the way life is, you take the good with the bad, we don't have much choice do we!  I have an amicable friendship with my ex, which I'm glad for my son's sake, as yes, he adores his father, and I'll give him his props, he is a good dad.  No worries, I was never the type of girl who dreamed about marriage anyway, to me, it always seemed like a trap (and I'm claustrophobic!), so I actually never really desired to get married, I was basically coerced against my better judgement (you should always listen to your intuition, and I turned a deaf ear, what a dummy!).  But believe me there won't be a next time!  Unless Todd Rundgren or Brandon Boyd pop the question, I'm steering clear of saying 'I do', cause I DON'T!

Anyway, enough of that, other than having to work of course, my life mainly consists of my son, my family (I'm very close to me mater & pater, and my 4 brothers & sisters, I'm the middle - oh, oh, that spells trouble, there's five of us in all, yes my mom & dad still love each other, even after 53 yrs. of marriage, wow!)  I adore all of my nieces & nephews etc. and I love family get togethers.

My son is my little buddy and we usually do everything together, although that's not to say I don't get out on my own once in a while, I do, or I'd go bonkers!  We like to go to the beach and play or just hang out and watch the guys surf.  I bodyboard and I'm teaching my son now, so we'll have another fun hobby to do together.  We enjoy going to the movies to see the latest family or animated movies, and we love going to the L.A. Zoo and the Santa Ana Zoo (you can ride an elephant there!), we also enjoy going to the Circus (we recently went to Circus Vargas and it was wonderful, we met a majority of the performers, they're all very warm and lovely people, what a pleasure!).  Other than that it's day to day life, I work, my son goes to school, etc., but I'm fairly happy and consider myself very blessed.

There are still many things I'd like to accomplish in life, which as stubborn as I am, I'm determined to get to sooner than later, time will tell.  I have many different hobbies, I take turns and switch from this to that when I get bored.  I love my music (which I never get bored with!), I love going to club gigs and concerts.  I draw, I do pencil portraits - I have to look at a photo or picture, I can't draw from memory - but I'm pretty damn good at it if I do say so myself, but I have to feel in the mood to draw.  I also write, I used to write short stories/articles and poetry, now I mainly do what I enjoy the most and that is writing Haiku - it's a Japanese form of poetry, I was introduced to this medium from a grade school teacher and it intrigued me and made a lasting impression.  I also love to read, and my interests can be about anything that happens to catch my eye or tweak my curiosity.

I love reading anything by Stephen King, Robin Cook, Anne Rice, Robert Ludlum, James Patterson and I enjoy biographies very much.  I also enjoy reading articles/mags/books on health and fitness.  One of my all time favorite books is 'Siddhartha' by Hermann Hesse, it's a beautiful story and has stood with me since I read it as a young girl, it really made an impression.

I love my music, my dad introduced me to an extremely wide variety of music styles when I was a toddler and I'm so glad that he did, as there's not much I don't like out there, so no matter where I am, I'll usually enjoy what I hear musically, now people's ridiculous chatter - oh how I wish there was an on/off switch for that nonsense!

I love, of course, Todd Rundgren, have since I was a very young girl, he is my hero, I adore Todd, I love his music, his personality everything about him, I just plain love the man.  I also, adore Brandon Boyd & Incubus (but mostly Brandon Boyd, he's sooooo beautiful and his voice just makes me feel good).  Let's see who else, oh yes, I love 311, Weezer (Rivers Cuomo is so cute & on the eccentric side I would say, from reading his 'My Space' page, but I love that!), I love Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl - ooh baby!), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave/Soundgarden (Chris Cornell all I can say is wow!), I also enjoy the Beach Boys, Dennis Wilson (his solo album 'Pacific Ocean Blue' is genius!), White Stripes, AIF, My Chemical Romance, Lenny Kravitz, Coldplay, John Mayer, Bob Marley, Style Council, Everything but the Girl, Sade, Karla Bonoff among a host of others, and I also love music from the 40's, 50's & 60's, I love old swing music, I adore Gene Krupa and Harry James, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy can also swing with the best of them!  I also adore old bossa nova music and Tony Mottola guitar music (yes he's a relation to music biz mogul Tommy Mottola), I love Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass - one of my all time fave songs is sung by Herb Alpert (yup, I betcha didn't know he sang!) and it's called 'This Guys In Love With You' it makes me swoon just thinking about it, and I also loved Sergio Mendez & Brazil 66' and another one of my all time fave songs is 'The Girl From Ipanema' the original version, no others compare!  I know every word, I just think it's a lovely song.

Oh, oh, I think I hear my little one stirring, be back in a mo!

Back again, he drifted off to dreamland again, phew!

Let's see I better get to the good stuff, as I myself am getting a bit sleepy, I'm a night owl, but I've been extremely on the go as of late and I think it's beginning to catch up with me!

Friday Sept. 7th, I went to see Incubus at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, one of the greatest nights of my life (it's actually second, but I'll get to that soon enough!).  I had an amazing seat in the Orchestra section and I had a wonderful view.  Brandon Boyd is (if it's possible!) an even better singer live and what a showman, oh be still my heart!  Lord have mercy, what a gorgeous man!  It was definitely one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life!  What I wouldn't give for one night alone with Brandon Boyd!

Now, for the greatest night of my life, it just happened this past sat. night Sept. 22nd at the House of Blues in West Hollywood, Calif. where I went to see Todd Rundgren.  Todd looked soooo good!  He's dropped a few and looked so skinny and sexy in his black leather pants, oooh baby!!!  His performance was as always fantastic and it never lasts long enough for me (as in my dreams!  Oops, stop being naughty Debbie!).  So, after the gig I purchased my '40 years of Todd' t-shirt, the funds (and your name gets listed also) go to pay for a dedication ad in Rolling Stone Magazines Nov. issue, from (and devised by Bill Bricker) and Todd's fans, it's to let Todd know how much we appreciate him and how much he means to all of us, his fans.  It's also Rolling Stone Mag's 40th year anniversary.  So, the deadline is Oct. 5th, more funds are desperately needed, so if you're a Todd fan and would like to show Todd your appreciation, Bill Bricker would be thrilled, just go to Toddata.com, you can donate thru Paypal, so it's really easy.

Let's see, where was I, oh yes, so I met up with my best friend as we were on opposite sides of the room, I on Todd's side, she on Kasim's side.  The line outside to wait for the valet parking was ridiculous, so we decided to have a drink, the doorman (what a cutie!) said that it was last call and they were in the midst of cleaning up already, and I put on my sad cutesy girl act, as my girlfriend was already walking away, and then the doorman said, 'Well maybe I can help you out' and I amazingly cheered up, and said 'Oh, how?' he goes, 'See that man in the black suit at that other door?' (which I hadn't even noticed the man or door and we were standing right by there!) and the cute doorman says 'Well go tell him that I sent you over there and to let you up to the 3rd floor', and I said 'OK! Thank you so much!' (I didn't even know a 3rd floor existed at the House of Blues, ya learn something new everyday!), anyway the man in the black suit was very nice and said 'Sure no problem, just let me put these on you' he put white wrist bands on us that said 'The Foundation Room' which apparently is for the VIP/music biz folk, I thanked him as adorably as I could muster and the man in the black suit smiled and said, 'Sure no problem, enjoy!' and I was thinking 'you betcha!', as we were trekking up the stairs I joked with my girlfriend, 'Wouldn't it be great if Todd made an appearance, that is, if he hasn't already vacated!', my friend said, 'Yeah right, wishful thinking Deb!'  Jeez!  Have a little faith, I always say, and now she knows why!

As we had our drinks in hand, I was stirring my drink trying to make it taste better (didn't work!) and I was just about to call the bartender to fix it, when my girlfriend started pummelling my shoulder, and in a panicky voice said, 'Debbie turn around!, Debbie turn around!  Todd is right behind you!!!', I of course thought she was joking, but to humor her, I slowly turned around and it's a good thing I had a good grip on my drink, as I almost had a bloody cardiac, because bless my soul, Todd Rundgren was standing 12 inches in front of me!  I know my mouth dropped open and I'm grateful a few people approached Todd so he couldn't see me at that moment!  Then, again, my girlfriend starts pummelling me , telling me 'Go talk to him, go talk to him!!!'  Jeez, what a NAG!  Just kidding, she just didn't want me to miss this opportunity, as she knows I've been in love with Todd forever!

So as foolish as I felt, I walked right up to Todd (my hero!) introduced myself, we shook hands and chatted for a moment, before  a few other people rudely intruded (how dare they!).  Then, the pummelling again, she stuck a pen in my hand and insisted I go get Todd's autograph!  Jeez, I felt like such a dork, no one else was asking him, I wanted to be cool like everyone else, but no way, my best friend wouldn't hear of it!!  So, hesitantly I approached Todd again and he was very sweet and accommodating and he was so cute, he was so jazzed about how smooth the pen wrote and even asked what he was writing on!  (I really got a kick out of that!  He signed the shiny cardboard band that was wrapped around the t-shirt I bought and on the other side of the cardboard it says 'Congratulations, you are now part of history in Rolling Stone & 40 Years of Todd' it was a lucky coincidence I grabbed that out of my purse, as I didn't have any paper, how cool is that!).  Then we chatted for a second and he said he was heading home and he gave me a big bear hug (and I didn't want to let go!  Man he felt good!) and Todd said I was sweet and a cute little thing, then the last thing he said to me as he was walking out was, 'It was nice meeting you, see you next time!',  I waved and I  said, 'Bye Todd, okay!', and I thought, you better believe it baby!!!

And that my friends was the greatest night of my life!

The only thing that could possibly top that, would of course be a night alone with Todd, however, for now, that is just a dream, but luckily, 'A Dream Goes On Forever'!

That's it for now boys and girls, and as I always say, God bless and good waves.  Aloha!

P.S.  By the way, I've been trying to find an old bloke of mine from way back, he's from London (last I heard, Acton) England, he was  a musician/agent/mgr. and he played bass guitar, his name is Simon Skinner, he has a brother Jonathon and sister Sara.  So if anyone knows any of them please ask them to have Simon contact me.  I would be ever so grateful, thank you!  Bye for now!
