Welcome to the Herkie Walls Show

This show will be the official weekly talk show of Daytona Beach ThunderBirds Head Coach, Herkie Walls and the show will be co-hosted by Frank Irizarry. Tune in for game recaps, upcoming game previews, player interviews, insight and analysis on the Daytona Beach ThunderBirds of the af2.

    Hosts:

Herkie Walls - Former National Football League and Arena Football League star Herkie Walls will lead the Daytona Beach ThunderBirds into af2 in 2008 as its first head coach.

Walls, who starred for the NFL's Houston Oilers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers in addition to the AFL's Orlando Predators, comes to the ThunderBirds from Master's Academy in Oviedo, where he served as football coach. The team qualified for the state playoffs this season with a 7-3 record.
During his Predators playing career from 1991 to 1996, Walls thrilled crowds at the Orlando Arena with his exciting kickoff returns and touchdown dances. As a Predator, he accumulated more than 7,000 all-purpose yards and scored 54 touchdowns. Ranked in the top five in just about every offensive category and holder of 15 club records, Walls was inducted into the Predators Ring of Honor in 1999 and remains one of the most popular players in team history.

He successfully made the transition to the front office after his playing days, serving as director of sales/community relations for the Predators, one of the AFL's most stories and successful franchises. His "Fitness is Fun" community relations program was recognized by the AFL in 2001 and has since been duplicated by other teams in the league.
Before coming to the Predators, Walls played several seasons with the former Houston Oilers and later the Tampa Bay Bucs. He entered the NFL after a standout career as a two-sport athlete at the University of Texas where he set several Longhorn receiving records and became one of the few people ever to score a victory in a race over nine-time Olympic Gold Medalist Carl Lewis.

Frank Irizarry - Frank Irizarry is the Assistant Director of Public Relations for the Daytona Beach ThunderBirds and the former host of "The Fox Sports Dot Com Bloggers Show" on BTR.
