A birth doula can play an essential role in assisting one's surrogate mother prior to and during a natural childbirth. Not only is she trained to offer specialized support during labor to provide guidance and help the surrrogate mother remain calm and focused during childbirth, she can also be instrumental in bridging communication gaps between the recipient parent and surrogate mother both prior to and during childbirth. Doula's are trained as experts in the childbirth process, and can provide the surrogate with specific techniques to ensure that the surrogate mother is as relaxed as possible during childbirth, and also foster the creation of a birth plan prior to childbirth which can be generated with input from the recipient parents as well. On this episode, our guest is S. Renea Capozzi, a birth doula who owns Lil' Seeds of Life Birth Wellness Center in southern California, who will discuss the doula's role in a surrogacy birth, as well as offer insights on natural childbirth.
