Of all the critical components involved in a surrogacy journey, the role of the Reproductive endocrinologist is surely on one of the most important. The RE is the physician who oversees all medical aspects related to fertility -- egg retrievals, prescribing the necessary medications for egg donor and surrogate mother, overseeing the creation of embryos using sperm and egg, and the ultimate transfer of an embryo into the surrogate mother. This week, our guest is Dr. Collin Smikle, the RE of Laurel Fertility, located in San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Smikle will be discussing the role a RE plays in a surrogacy journey, as well as provide an extensive overview of the various components of IVF, including egg donation and the medical process involved with creating an embryo. Dr. Smikle will also give his opinion on what qualities makes an ideal surrogate mother.
