Penny Gamble-Williams is a visual artist, activist, poet, writer, storyteller, cultural presenter, radio talk show host and musician was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. Penny is a member of the Chappaquiddick Tribe of the Wampanoag Indian Nation. She honors her African, European and Choctaw heritage. Ms Williams was instrumental in re-constituting the Chappaquiddick people, monitoring repatriation issues in respect to the Chappaquiddick, reviving the ceremonies and language. In 1996, Penny traveled to England to research documents pertaining to the Chappaquiddick Wampanoag. In 1995 she was elected Sachem, (Chief), and served for seven years.
