The Gospel of Mary Magdalene was written in the late first century by the disciple Jesus loved above all other disciples. Her teachings are profound and were little understood at the time and were soon considered heresy by other Christians. This gospel was then forgotten for centuries until the findings of a Coptic version was found in the late 19th century followed by the discovery of 2 Greek versions in the 20th century.
Many insights are gleaned from the Gospel of Mary Magdalene including the teachings of Christ after the Resurrection, the leadership roles of women in early Christianity, and the spiritual nature of Christ's teaching.
