Should you buy a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5

"Should you buy a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5?"

What you can do with this Panasonic camera...

Of course you can take pictures, but wait! You can take 9.1 megapixel pictures. That is good enough to print yourself a nice 8 x 10 picture to frame!

You can shoot video, it's a quick rotation to the video position on the selector. Now if something happens "video worthy" you can capture it quick and easy.

If you'd like to see an example of the  video this camera will take go to www.tvandcamera.com

    Zoom

This camera has a 10X optical zoom which added to the digital zoom increases to 16X zoom, how close it that you ask?

Take a look at the top picture, can you see the leaf hanging down in the middle of the photo? Now look at the same leaf in the bottom picture using the 16X zoom.

    Same leaf with 16X zoom

This works for sneaking some good pictures too. (if you have someone like my wife that doesn't like having pictures taken this could be important to you too)

    PS don't tell my wife!

    Size

This camera isn't super slim like the credit card cameras, but it will fit nicely into a cargo pocket or into a pocket of some loose fitting pants too.

    Battery

The battery is rechargeable, this is good as long as you have a spare battery charged.

The battery will last a long time though when fully charged, I have taken 300+ pictures and quite a few video's on one charge.

    Cool features

The panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 has a grid that you can bring up on the screen if you like, this will really help you keep your picture straight. Nothing more aggrivating than taking a great shot and finding out it is crooked.

There is a vacation mode, you can input where you are going and how long you'll be there and the camera will remember that for your pictures.

Of course it has the usual time and date stamp on it to if you want it.

You can go to full zoom by pushing a button, you do have to push it twice, the first will take you to 10X zoom the second goes to 16X zoom

It has a clipboard setting, you are supposed to be able to take a picture then write notes about it. I haven't used that yet, so you'll have to tell me how it works.
