It's time to address yet another phenomenon that plagues the Black community....Lightskin vs Darkskin.
In comparison to darker skin, studies show that lighter skinned people are less likely to be incarcerated, more likely to be in political leadership, have higher education, income, and job statuses. Is this merely a coincidence, or systematic?
Studies also show that these disparities of light vs dark, happens at a higher rate within the race of blacks, than those outside of the race.
In your day to day interaction, do you see a certain prejudice or bias towards/against the dark skin/light skin individuals? Is this something amongst "US" that speaks to OUR core issues of "self-hate" or is it much to do about nothing?
