Like you I have heard the stories of people who supposedly died, visited the other side, met their departed family members and friends, only to come back to this life to tell us the story. I have also listened to the Easter sermons declaring the popular near-death stories to be a powerful proof of the resurrection. I have attended the Christian funeral services that majored on the blissful life of the departed people in heaven, while resurrection was mentioned only in the recitations of a Christian creed. To what extent have various superstitions merged with the historic Christian beliefs about the resurrection? Could it be that NT Wright, the former Bishop of Durham, is right when he writes, “the residual Platonism has infected whole swaths of Christian thinking and has misled people” (Surprised by Hope)? Let’s journey together through the resurrection accounts of Lazarus and Jesus, and reflect on the Biblical meaning of resurrection. Tell your friends about this program too. This Thursday, April 4, 2013, 8 pm CDT. Your questions and comments prior to the broadcast are welcome. Producer and Presenter Tihomir Kukolja. Music: Mirek Stekla, albums Escape and Hymns.
