Shawon Watson's Story:
In becoming a leadership speaker I have had to overcome many challenges and obstacles in my life so far. In 1992 at the age of 6 I was diagnosed with a Learning Disability (Dyslexia). Some kids would call me retarded, Stupid, slow and I’m sure they used a few other choice words I didn’t even know what they meant.I was also bullied andsometimes this made me choose to be a loner. Around 1996 the bullying started to fade and that was about the time I found the game of basketball. I still had to face the fact that I had a Learning Disability which forced me to attend resource training classes with a special instructor. The resource classes helped me with school and the game of basketball helped me socially from a stand point of showing others I did have a special talent. The extra classes and basketball gave me a sense of pride in myself that I never had before. In 2005 I left home to attend college in Mississippi. At that time still considered myself a follower but I was learning how to achieve new goals with the help of my uncle Jerry that transformed me into a leader. He taught me the importance of doing chores, reading the bible, working hard and keeping myself physically fit. By building a relationship with God I gained more peace, strength and self-confidence.This has all lead to my achievements in school, work and building my new personal and professional relationships.
In December of 2011, I had a break up with my girlfriend, that forced me to prayer to God for strength. The break up gave birth My newest Book Kissing Your Heartache Goodbye. In December of 2012 After a year of hard work, I released my first book. I wrote this book while working two jobs, a part time job in the morning and a fulltime job from afternoon till 11pm.
