Crafted Spaces was founded by Yvette-Michelle Cottle Darby in 2010.Yvette-Michelle is a designer,artisan and business development specialist.She has worked in the fashion and craft industry for over seventeen years and creates her original designs under her label Verona Collections. Yvette-Michelle started sewing and creating since she was eight years old, and started machine sewing at age eleven.Yvette-Michelle indicates,"As a child I was encouraged to explore my creativity,and as a teenager I learnt a variety of art forms." She also adds, "I love to create.I love textiles and I love transforming materials." Yvette-Michelle is always seeking ways to encourage others to explore their creativity and teaches sewing and creative design classes. Crafted Spaces is a new venture for Yvette-Michelle, but one that has been long in the making.
BIOGRAPHY/LEON ELLIS Mr. Ellis graduated with a degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Tuskegee University in Alabama.He relocated to New York City and opened Emily’s Restaurant and Bar in 1992. Located in Harlem on Fifth Avenue at 111th Street adjacent to Central Park and the Duke Ellington Monument, just north of New York’s famous Museum Mile, Emily’s became a very popular and highly respected establishment and that validated Harlem as viable business location.Oscar’s Famous BBQ, named for Mr. Ellis’ father, brought authentic Texas style barbecue to Harlem. The restaurant, which offered home delivery and catering services, served rotisserie chicken, ribs, steaks and various side items.
