TEXT: Matthew 5:17-19

We are still talking about the Old Testament Law, the commandments, that Jesus came to fulfill. In this passage, Jesus clearly states that the Law is still in effect. He says here in verse 19, "Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." While it is true that we live in the age of grace, we ought not to despise the commandments of God. The grace of God does not negate the Laws of God. The mercy that we have experienced does not give us liberty to do away with the Law.
