Another Christmas celebration has come and gone. While many were reminded of the birth of Christ through the numerous displays of nativity scenes throughout this season, we sometimes forget that Jesus' birth is just the beginning of a much larger story. So, as millions of people try to squeeze in some last minute shopping to take advantage of holiday season deals, and others make plans for the New Year, let's pause to explore what happened after Christmas.

The child born on the first Christmas hundreds of years ago was Jesus. He is God's Son who was sent to Earth in order to save the human race from sin and the punishment of sin. From his infancy, to his teenage years, and on into adulthood, Jesus never sinned. He grew up around sin and among sinful people like us, yet he never sinned. This was important because of what he was born to do.

Jesus was born to die for the sins of the human race. He was a sacrifice, and his Father, God, required that the sacrifice be perfect. If Jesus didn't die and suffer in our place, each and every one of us would have to die and suffer in hell for eternity.
