TEXT: Revelation 21:1-3: "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."
During our last lesson, we began looking at the nature of Heaven, our eternal home. From the Bible, we learned that: (1) Heaven is a place of incredible beauty; (2) Heaven is a place of incredible abundance; (3) Heaven is a place of incredible happiness. Turning back to Scripture, let’s find out more about this wonderful place called Heaven.
1. Who will Live in Heaven? Revelation 22:14-15 says, “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.”
2. What Will We Do in Heaven? While we do not know all that God will have us to do in Heaven, the Bible does provide a glimpse of the activities we will be engaged in in our eternal home.
3. We Will Worship God and the Lamb of God in Heaven. John saw the throne of God in Heaven. In the midst of that throne he saw “a Lamb as it had been slain.” This is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus has many titles, but none is more wonderful than the title “the Lamb of God.”
