There's one important fact we should observe while we are on this subject: The church will not usher in the kingdom by taking over the governments of the world. The Tribulation will end with only a few believers remaining on the earth. The Antichrist will be in control, and the earth will be filled with leaders who hate God and His followers. This is why it is necessary for Christ to come in great power and glory and wrest control of the world from these evil forces. He will then judge the nations by separating the sheep from the goats. The sheep are believers who go into the kingdom, and the goats will be cast into "everlasting fire." 

Why the Rapture Cannot Be Post-tribulational 

Before leaving this discussion about the population of the millennium, we need to recognize that one reason we know posttribulationism (the belief that Christ will rapture the church at the end of the Tribulation) cannot be true is that with all Christians taken up at the end of the seven-year Tribulation, there would be no one left on earth to enter the millennial kingdom...
