PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: "The Glorious Appearing (Part 6)" from Dr. Tim LaHaye
Christ Will Return as the Righteous King
Revelation 19:12 tells us that when Christ returns, He will have many crowns on His head. This means He will come as one with sovereign authority. All through history a crown on a person’s head has symbolized authority. Kings wear crowns, the pope wears a triple crown, the Antichrist’s kingdom is symbolized in Scripture with crowns, and even the ten kings of the Tribulation period will have crowns. But when Christ comes, all power will be given to Him as the Supreme King. In fact, Revelation 19:11-12 reveals a threefold nature of Christ at His glorious appearing: He will come as a judge, a warrior, and a king.
Revelation 19:12 adds that Christ will have on Him "a name written that no one knew except Himself." Many have speculated about this name, but it seems unwise to do so. In the Bible, a name reveals the nature of the person, and in Scripture, there are many names that reveal various facets of the nature of God and Jesus Christ. However, since Jesus is divine, it seems only natural that some aspects of His nature are incomprehensible to our finite minds. Therefore, at least this one name will be unknown to us.
