One discovery that we make in the Olivet Discourse is that because the disciples had no understanding of the rapture, and because the events Jesus described (except for the signs) will occur after the rapture, it is not mentioned in this passage. Our Lord’s view here was primarily of what would happen to Israel at the end of the age. However, we can be certain of the rapture based on other Bible passages we examined earlier. 

When the disciples asked their two questions, note that they merged together the glorious appearing of the Messiah, whom the Orthodox Jews to this day expect to come in glorious power, destroying the enemies of Israel and then setting up the future kingdom promised by many Old Testament prophets.
