PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: "Not Really So Obscure (Part 3)" from Dr. Tim LaHaye

Consider our Lord’s challenge to His disciples the night before He died. He did not say, “Buck up, men; don’t let your hearts be troubled just because you have to go through the Tribulation before I can take you to be with Myself.” Instead, He said, “Let not your heart be troubled… I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” This is exactly what Paul was referring to when he said, “The Lord Himself will descend… Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up to meet the Lord in the air.” The rapture is truly a “blessed hope” for the church.

The “glorious appearing” is quite a different matter. It is that special day when Christ will be acknowledged by all as King of king and Lord of lords. It is obviously the literal, physical stage of His second coming. So, Titus 2:13 shows both phases of the Lord’s coming in one verse.
