PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: "Not Really So Obscure (Part 2)" from Dr. Tim LaHaye

The Pre-tribulation Rapture in Once Verse

In Titus 2:13, in the midst of a hard-hitting challenge to God’s people to live a holy life, Paul says we should be motivated toward holiness in the anticipation of the second coming of our Lord: “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

The “blessed hope” is very definitely a reference to the rapture of the church. Examined from every angle, the rapture immediately following the resurrection of dead believers is a “blessed hope.” The hope of the church is not to triumph here on this earth, or even be in the majority. Our “hope” or confident expectation is that one day we are going to win in this race called life, not through anything we have done, but because, in accordance with God’s mercy, He saves us out of this world before the time of wrath begins.

As I pointed out before, if looking forward to Christ’s coming means going through the Tribulation with all its woes, judgments, trumpets, bowls, and catastrophes, it is no “blessed hope” at all. Interestingly enough, in the Bible, the “blessed hope” or rapture is always mentioned in a context of joy.
