PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: "Why Studying Bible Prophecy is So Important (Part 1)" from Dr. Tim LaHaye
In my opinion, one of the most underappreciated prophecies in the Bible is Isaiah 46:9-10. The ancient Hebrew prophet showed deep concern for Israel’s slide into idolatry in chapters 40-48 of his book. The people were worshipping idols made with their own hands in defiance of the first commandment to not have any other gods before them. The people of Israel, led by their spiritual leaders, were actually consulting man-made idols in attempt to learn about the future rather than consulting God. In turn, God tried to get the attention of the Israelites to recognize that He alone is God -- and He used prophecy as the means to validate Himself in the eyes of the Jews.
Isaiah 46:9-10 says, “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.”
