1. Ukraine's interior minister said Saturday that military operations in the east would continue and vowed, "We are not stopping." The government in Kiev also said that Ukraine was 'essentially at war' with the pro-Russian rebels who have seized several cities. One of the separatist leaders in Luhansk announced the formation of an army to march on Kiev. 

2. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced that he would advance new legislation in the Knesset to anchor Israel’s status as the nation-state of the Jewish people. 

3. China says it will hold joint naval exercises with Russia later this month in the East China Sea, where Beijing is involved in a territorial dispute with Japan. 

4. Saudi Arabia ended military exercises this week along the borders of Iraq and Kuwait, as well as other regions, in what the media described as the largest in the kingdom’s history. 

5. The US State Department reported on Wednesday that Iran continues to arm and finance a terrorist network that extends from South Asia to the Horn of Africa, from Iraq to Yemen, and across the Palestinian territories.
