According to Fox News, President Obama said on Saturday that the United States should take military action against Syrian President Bashar Assad for using chemical weapons on civilians but also turned to Congress for approval — dealing a potential setback to America’s foreign policy and setting up what will likely be a hard-fought Washington debate on the issue.

2. According to The Times of Israel, authorities at the Suez Canal in Egypt said they dodged an attempted terror attack on the vital waterway on Saturday. The head of the Suez Canal Authority said a terrorist had tried to damage a Panama-flagged ship, but “failed completely.”

3. According to the Times of Israel, Israeli television has reported that Syria's President Bashar Assad has moved to an underground bunker, and sent his family to “secure places,” ahead of an anticipated US attack.

5. According to the Times of Israel, Iranian Chief of Staff General Hassan Fi-rou-za-ba-di warned Saturday that any military attack against Syria will set both Israel and the United States ablaze. He said, “Regional countries backing this cruel war will suffer serious losses...and massive problems." The top general referred in particular to retaliatory attacks that would hit Israel in the event of an American assault on Syria.
