Our soul winning passage from the Word of God today is John 3:7 which reads: "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

Our soul winning quote today is from William Booth: "While women weep, as they do now, I'll fight; while children go hungry, as they do now I'll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I'll fight - I'll fight to the very end!"

Our soul winning devotional today is part 11 of our series titled "What Evangelism Is" from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.

Evangelism is helping people lose their religion.

When Jesus said to Nicodemus that to enter heaven a person must be born again, He was also not saying that being born again equals doing good works and acquiring self-righteousness. The Bible teaches that only one person in history was "good enough." Only one person hit the bull's-eye of the righteousness required by God. That person is Jesus Christ. He is the only one who earned a relationship with a perfect God by living a sinless life. Yet He died in our place on the cross and rose again from the dead. Our relationship with God is not the result of the religion we have or good works we do. It is the result of believing in what Jesus had done. It is not something we earn. It's a gift we receive.

You see, if we could get to heaven by being really religious of really good, why did Jesus have to die for our sin. No matter how good we are, we are not perfect. No matter how much good we do, we can't erase the stain of our past sins.
