1. According to The Associated Press, a top South Korean national security official said that North Korea may be setting the stage for a missile test or another provocative act with its warning that it soon will be unable to guarantee the safety of foreign diplomats.

2. According to The Associated Press, Israeli researchers and Jewish leaders reported a 30 percent jump in anti-Semitic violence and vandalism last year and expressed alarm about the rise of far-right parties in Hungary, Greece and other countries.

5. According to Russia Today, the US Geological Survey said a 6.2 magnitude earthquake was registered in the border area between Russia, China and North Korea.
